Inside the Action: Volunteering at the Bucs' She Is Football Weekend

This past weekend was an absolute whirlwind of energy, inspiration, and pure football passion! I had the incredible privilege of volunteering at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' She Is Football Weekend, an event dedicated to celebrating and empowering women in the sport. From helping behind the scenes to witnessing the magic firsthand on event day, it was an experience I'll never forget.

My involvement began the week leading up to the main event, working alongside the events ops team. It was fascinating to see the immense coordination that goes into pulling off something this massive. We were busy mapping out the layout, organizing materials, setting up signage, and tackling last-minute logistics to ensure everything would run smoothly for the hundreds of attendees. This glimpse behind the curtain gave me a newfound appreciation for the meticulous planning that transforms an idea into a flawless execution.

Then came the main event! The energy level was palpable from the moment I arrived (early, naturally, for morning setup). Over 1,000 women flooded in, their excitement radiating throughout the venue. As a volunteer, I helped manage registration, directed attendees, assisted with session flow, and generally provided a helping hand wherever needed. It was a long day – from dawn 'til well past dusk for breakdown – but the incredible atmosphere made the time fly.

One of the undeniable highlights was hearing from the various guest speakers. Each one shared compelling stories of resilience, leadership, and making their mark in a predominantly male industry. Listening to their experiences was deeply motivating and offered valuable perspectives for women navigating their own careers, both within and outside of sports.

Of course, a major draw was the incomparable Erin Andrews, who delivered an absolutely inspiring keynote address. She spoke candidly about her journey, the challenges she's faced, and the importance of perseverance and authenticity. Hearing her perspective was a powerful reminder to chase our ambitions fearlessly. Beyond the keynote, Erin also filmed a live podcast episode right there, adding another layer of dynamic excitement to an already jam-packed schedule.

Volunteering at the She Is Football Weekend was more than just helping out; it was about being part of something bigger. Witnessing over a thousand women unite in their love for the game and their desire to uplift each other was truly impactful. The sense of community and empowerment in that space was incredibly inspiring. I left feeling energized, motivated, and more connected to the sport and the incredible women who are shaping its future. A huge thank you to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for hosting such a meaningful event – and for the opportunity to play a small part in making it happen!
